Good looking Imperial ring with an iron cross and oakleaves, beside which are "DHG" and "1914". I believe the story behind these was simply a patriootic call to donate gold for the war effort, hence the name "Iron for Gold". There are two lines of writing , one side saying "I gave gold for iron in this difficult time" and the other "For this old fatherland, the true test". I can't read the line inside. Small size has been opened at bottom to size up. An interesting piece of history. |
