Forrestry Official Tunic w Aiguillette WWII German
WWII German forrestry tunic. First the negatives. The collar has some stitching missing just over the tag and the inside liner has some stitcing out in one place as well as where the sleeves meet on each side. These are not really disfiguring and could be restitched if needed. The collar has some thin spots as it is constructed of a very soft, rich velvet that always tends to wear. On the positive side, this tunic is a high quality example with a lot of extra trim in this fine velvet. Still present is the the aiguillette which is ornate and in terrific shape. Both collar tabs are near mint and show a high rank. All buttons are present and matching and the fabric is all over quite nice with the exception of the previously mentioned stitching issues. Shoulder boards are also present in fine shape. The fellow must have been a WWI veteran who got a civil service job due to age as he was awarded the WWII iron cross and Hindenberg cross for combatants as can be seen by the ribbon bar. Tag inside of internal left breast pocket identifies the owner as "Wilhelm" and the date as 1938. There are loops for a medal on the breast pocket which is gone; It was likely a wound badge. If interested I can furnish a similar badge. All in all a nice tunic with some negatives but some very strong positives. Looks great with the aguillette!
